Pins, where are the last two from? They look awesome!

The green ones are by Scott Nichol (and come in several colours - I have the green and the rust colours). They retail for about £15 a pair.

The red ones are by Corgi (and come in blue as well as red) and retail for about £18 a pair.

So, no, they're not cheap, but they are lovely.

They are a little pricey, but they are good chunky winter socks. I wear the Scott Nichol ones often with both brogues and brogue boots.

@Sam: Loafers and socks of any kind are a difficult combination. I'd wait for the weather to warm up some and go sockless (or wear invisible socks). I really can't imagine argyle working with them. You're pairing Italian riviera chic footwear with gruff Scottish sockwear; it sounds a recipe for disaster.

And I wear red socks (with bold pink flowers on too) with suits (I tend to wear my wilder socks with suits and my earthier, nordic, fairisle socks for casual wear) and I love it. I get complimented on my sockwear often! GQ would deem these to be Super Jazz hands, I'm sure.



It might be a little sad that I get so excited about socks.

You're right about loafers and socks - they suck. But it's necessity, as I'm afraid my school shoes met an untimely demise and going sockless isn't an option - for the forseeable future, tan tassle loafers are my smartest shoes.
I always associated both loafers and argyle with a preppy aesthetic - although they are, as you say, from different backgrounds. So I was rather hoping they'd sit okay together.
I also can't go completely sockless with these shoes because they are far too tight; according to the gentleman at the store the leather should stretch slightly over time, but until then they are simply not comfortable without a bit of lining. I understand you can take them to a specialist who'll stretch the leather artificially, in the proper way? Anybody know anything about that?
As for your wild socks? I'm sure it looks fantastic but I still deem it a guilty pleasure
At least tell me that when push comes to shove, you wear black socks with black tie

I can see preppier coloured argyle socks working with loafers, yes.

Of course, I frequent high society balls and red carpet events on an almost daily basis and would never be seen without black socks with black tie get-up.

It's year 13 prom for me in a few months. I simply cannot wait to have a smug, pretentious giggle at all the horrendous teenager black-tie mistakes.

Quite chunky, but I don't think they look overly so. Plus, I have quite big feet so they don't look odd on my frame! Also, the chinos will most likely be H&M, so not too skinny. I'm on a student budget (poor) and the only reasonably priced alternative navy chinos seems to be Topman, and I don't like their white contrast buttons or the fabric.

Sadly, I'm going to be restricted to all black at work for the next 4 weeks; black shoes, trousers and shirt. Thankfully socks are filling the colour void.

They are Paul Smith. You might have to hunt for them though as they aren't current season so not stocked in Paul Smith stores any more.

Sorry to resurface this topic, but I am currently after some funkier (preferably fairisle) socks.

I have considered getting a pair by corgi/paul smith for around the £15-18 mark, however I would prefer to get a 3-5 pack for that money. Whilst I don't like to skimp on quality, socks aren't a priority of mine, and I'd sooner take comfort and aesthetic in bulk over luxury and aesthetic in moderation (only in this instance).

Does anyone know any good places to purchase such pairs?
