Stylish & Affordable Fashion Places In Asia

Wanted to start up a discussion of where the most stylish yet affordable shops, boutiques and districts were in Asia. There's a huge premium brand following around this region but there's also some distinctly stylish people walking the streets. But where are they getting their clothes from? Let's start a list!

I recently came back from a trip to Beijing and found that a big clothing complex in Wudaokou had a fair share of fake branded goods but also, if you look for it carefully on the first floor especially, there's a few genuine but trendy Korean shops at reasonable prices too!

I've noticed that in Kyoto, the Shijo/Sanjo area has the standard stores (from Gap to Armani and Louis Vuitton). What was more interesting, to me, was the number of smaller shops surrounding the main streets with clothes by Japanese designers, as well as some bespoke places (including partially bespoke shoes for 40,000 yen). I found an awesome pair of blue corduroy pants for 20,000 yen, but that price is a little high for me (and the pants were a little too short). What do you mean by affordable, exactly? I certainly see a lot of stylish stuff, but rarely affordable prices.

On a related note, there is a cluster of about five or so second-hand clothing shops just northwest of the Shijo/Kawaramachi intersection with very good prices, if you can find something that fits. The clothes seemed to be pretty decent quality from what I saw.

Japan is great now that you mention it. Don't know much about the Kyoto area - I've only really seen the upper end luxury brands there or other well known foreign chain stores. But in Tokyo, especially around Harajuku, I love the likes of United Arrows, Ship and Beams which are a bit on the higher end scale. I think Rage Blue is there too?

What I mean by affordable though, would be prices within the range of a college student or just above - that would be my benchmark. I'm willing to spend more if it's really stylish or a unique piece. There are a few boutique side street shops around the Harajuku area too. The problem with Japanese fashion though, is sometimes I can't pull it off! Great style anyway
