Knitted Ties

Two questions:

1) Are these still considered a respectable smart/casual accessory? Does anyone own any?

2) Where can I get them for a decent price? I really don't like to spend a lot on accessories. Most of my pocket squares are from Primark for a start (Don't judge me!!!)

I'd like one in burgundy preferably.

1.) Yes, yes, yes. I do own one, a black one, and - as gloomy as it sounds - I got nice comments wearing it to a funeral (the event was quite laid black per the families wishes, but I ensured I was dressed appropriately) and it really is a great item to have. I would love a burgundy one too. They add texture to an outfit, and elevate the tie to a more acceptably casual level whilst still looking smart. Worn correctly, I do think a knitted tie can look as smart and appropriate as a silk one in more formal environments.

2.) as for where to get one, have you tried eBay? (I know you're an eBay whore like me ). I think others can help you in this department though as I don't really shop for ties. I have this tight woolen one from All Saints, however, if it counts as knitted (it's awesome)

Yeah I really do love the texture they add to an outfit, and I think they would really elevate some of my smart casual looks. I wear pocket squares and blazers on a daily basis just to go out and get milk, so I really need to make an effort when I actually need to look decent.

And yes I have looked on eBay. Heres a cheap but unbranded version of what I'm looking for.

Jump the Gun is a good shout. However, considering that the Jump the Gun ones are man-made, and this is cheaper and in stock, then this might be an option:

I have a few now - asos and TM Lewin, but the TM Lewin ones are a LOT better quality. TM Lewin also have a decent colour range - at £25 each, I don't know if that's over your budget

If any of you really want to splash out, there's a section in House of Fraser that has an AMAZING range of knitted ties. I'm not sure on the brand, but they're £69 (!)

They are man-made, yes, but I find it much easier to get a convincing knot out of them.

I have one of the burgundy ones from Next, I believe it was only a tenner; a tenner well spent!
