T-Shirt Necklines: The Rules

Basically I've been working so much on improving my smart/casual wardrobe so much lately that my casual wardrobe has been neglected. This is about to change! I am flogging all my old ghastly print, low scoop neck t-shirts and going out tomorrow to buy lots of t-shirts for my "capsule" wardrobe.

The problem is, I'm struggling to decide what necklines to buy. I've finally accepted that low v's look bad on me. Are there any rules for these things? I'm 6ft 1, skinny and have a long neck. What sort of necklines would be most flattering on me, and the most versatile for layering?

I'd go for crew mainly, classic and versatile. Maybe the occasional subtle scoop, but it's personal preference really. If it's any consolation I'm not convinced deep Vs look good on anyone...

Not sure if there are any rules as such, i guess maybe V neck is better than crew if you want to lengthen your neck, but it doesn't sound as if you've got that problem.

I just stick with crew necks or the odd V. Play around with colour rather than style.

Thanks for the responses guys. Do you have any personal preference when it comes to patterns and design? (Block colours, breton stripes, others?)

Block colours for me - simple but effective.

Put simply: buy crew neck.

Those are beautiful Ben, but rather out of my price range aha. Might have to be H and M if I'm buying in bulk, but I'm generally impressed by the fit of their t-shirts and the range of choices.

I think, based on you guys advice, I'm going to opt for a number of block colour crew-neck tees, in white, navy, black and maybe burgundy. Though I would quite like a long sleeved breton striped top for summer (rolled up sleeves, straw hat and chino shorts).

Nothing wrong with deep v's and scoop necks tbh. If you wear them with confidence, they look good.
