Personally I can see why one would wish to have a more streamlined wallet: it has less bulk which ruins any 'clean lines', however carrying loose change is just annoying. It's easy to lose it, and I find it much easier having it in an accessible location within the wallet.
You can always have two separate wallets: a coin holder and a card holder, but this can be a hassle. I think a certain amount of bulk is inevitable. Until a decade ago, mobile phones were extremely bulky, and can still be today, so it's not so much a problem that needs to be avoided, but rather accepted. I think everything is acceptable, apart from a clutch bag. I'm sorry but Men should not walk around with clutches or hand bags. Briefcases, Satchels, backpacks et al yes. But not hand bags.
