Quick Question On Layering?

Layering is a real conundrum at the moment, with the weather being freezing and raining one second, then sunny and humid the next.

I was throwing on some outfits and was considering wearing a linen/cotton blend blazer over a fine knit wool jumper. It looked okay, but isn't this breaking the unbreakable "thin to thicker" layering rule? And doesn't it contradict the point of wearing a light material jacket?

It's just I really can't win at the moment, I come home either really sweaty or freezing cold each night.

I think that, like pretty much all style rules, the layering rule can be broken. Nothing wrong with your outfit by the sounds of it. In a similar vein, I think chunky knits with thinner but still rugged jackets (denim, field etc) look fine.

Yeah I wear chunky knits with lighter jackets all the time

ditto, in fact it's my go to winter attire. A good warm knit in addition to a bulky jacket is an overload for me.

Agreed. And if you make the rest of your outfit perfect, it seems like this could fall under the sprezzatura category.
