Men's Fashion A/W 2012/13 - Hopes and Predictions

Hello all,

With the Menswear A/W 2012/13 shows kicking off in Milan on the 14th of January, and slipping into Paris on the 18th, I'd like to hear what trends you're anticipating, what hopes you have for the shows and what you hope you don't see on the catwalk this Fashion week and what you're looking forward to the most. Here's my view:

Trends

- The Lanvin deconstructed classic look from its A/W 2011/12 collection is more prolific at this year's shows
- Continuation of last season's fur trend
- Will the clutch bag from some S/S shows return at A/W?

Hopes

- To see more polo necks under shirts
- Muted colours rather than bold coloring

Hope I Don't See

- Any trainers or silly sport pieces due to the Olympic Games...

Most Looking Forward To

- Burberry, Christopher Bailey performs every season
- John Varvatos, hope he regains that touch of amazing that wasn't present in his S/S show
- Henrik Vibskov, he brings the fun
- Prada, what will Miuccia Prada's theme be this season?

Very pleased by what we're seeing from Burberry. Lovely slim silloette with muted colours is just what we need. I think there's a general feeling (that I definately share!) that mens fashion needs to go back to basics a little bit.

So my hopes:
Still an element of heritage hanging around, but much more refined. Less crazy knits and kooky patterns and a more grown up feel to the whole thing.
Like you said, less colour, with the exception of warm, dark shades of colours like burgundy or navy.

What I dread:
The world will continue to walk around in van authentics, horrible jumpers and jeans that make you look like you've deficated in them.

Burberry looking good already. What do people think of Chanel's look this season?

Diesel Black Gold Menswear and Jonathan Saunders will be making their menswear debut on the 17th and 16th of January respectively, at Milan.

Diezel chief Renzo Rosso said;

"Milan is the city of excellence in terms of business for men's wear, and we are now being recognised as a real, distinctive brand."

The men at Valentino have walked at Florence's Pitti Uomo and what a good start to the A/W season it is. Menswear is back to traditional tailoring and colours with Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli of Valentino using interesting material and colour combination, oh and is that a return of the man-clutch I see?

Valentino describe the collection on their website as "establishing contemporary masculinity without confining it within a formula". Do you agree and what are your opinions on the collection and the return of the clutch?
