Shoes!!! Question?

are trainers the same as running shoes? I recently was searching for some running shoes online as my current pair is almost completely worn but the results kept coming in as trainer shoes where as I wanted running shoes thus prompting me to ask the difference as the shoes looked similar to what I wanted.

Running shoes are trainers, trainers aren't all running shoes, skate shoes are trainers etc. Trainers is more of a UK term for what you might call sneakers in the US. Is there a specific pair your looking at?
