Anybody else on here love waistcoats? I love the fact that you can remove a suit jacket and still look well dressed. I know tie bars are popular now but to me a waistcoat is the best way of stopping a tie from flapping about.

I'm a huge fan of waist coasts, although I only own a few. I agree with you, in fact I asking think they look slicker than a suit blazer does. It's a bit of a shame that not many men sport them these days.
Glad you like them. There was a revival, not sure if it's still going. Three piece suits do still seem to be popular.
I recently bought a three piece from Reiss and I'm absolutely love it.
A waistcoat has to be part of a conventional, classic suit though for me personally. I hate it when i see fashion photography or art students walk around wearing a tweed waistcoat under a denim jacket. A bit try-hard in my eyes.
For what it's worth, I tend to agree that waistcoats should be part of a suit. Even an odd jacket/blazer with with waistcoat doesn't work so well.
Unless you are in a casual setting - such as your own home or office - I'm not a fan of wearing the waistcoat without a jacket.
There are, of course, exceptions. I've seen someone pull off a shirt and waistcoat look - without any jacket at all - when getting married. The shirt was unusual and fancy white one and the waistcoat being plain helped to restrain it - the overall look was relaxed and casual, whilst still being dressy and celebratory.
