Collar bar with chain
As mentioned in a previous thread, I'm going to a 1920s style ball tomorrow night. I've ordered an ASOS collar bar with a chain in the hope of recreating the 20s/30s trend of collar bars with chains passing over the knot of the tie like so:
Are we fans of the look? And any tips you could think of for making it work?
Bear in mind that this look will be a shameless piece of dandyism, given the theme. I am also aware that the example looks, particularly the latter two, are rather extravagant. The piece I've ordered is a bit more subdued: http://www.asos.com//Asos/Asos-Tie-P...px?iid=2600572
The chain does look a lot longer than those pictured though, and the pic shows it being worn in a totally different way...
That's quite obvious now you've pointed it out! I'll have a look when it arrives and if it it doesn't work, I'll send it back.
You may be able to adapt it in some way. It's a nice accessory regardless.
Just arrived and not too impressed so will probably return: bars too long to have any sort of staying effect and chain is too long.
Might try and grab this from Lewin in town: Silver Barbell Collar Pin With Chain | T.M.Lewin
That's much better. I've got one of their clip on ones which is nice.
They have a branch on park street too.
Got a gold one from TM Lewin, bit of DIY hole punching and voila! Thoughts?
Looks cool, the positioning of it looks a bit skewed but that might just be the pic
And the finished product! Collar got ruined on first shirt so tried with a smaller collar for a more noticable effect and tied a half windsor with a dimple for a more symetrical look. Very pleased.
