How Much Is TOO Much?

Well of course everyone does option B, you listed nearly every reason for buying an item in one hit haha. I'm too practical to buy a £450 jumper when as you say, a £100 item will do the same job for the same length of time. And out of the things you listed for option B i'd rather blend in and just be tidily dressed which is why I wouldn't buy anything too flash. I wouldn't say I dress to please other people, I dress to feel comfortable so I can just get on with being me (The exception being work where there's a dress code).

I think my simple point was that anyone purchasing a £450 jumper and claiming it was simply for comfort was kidding themselves. Fashion is vanity and a little vanity isn't a dreadful thing necessarily.

I am same like Jay and others. In my home i wear old clothing but as soon as I need to go out i dress up. We wouldn't be on this forum if we were different than that.

You can even go as flashy person if that is your personality. Recently someone wrote as advice that you start slowly incorporating some item and as soon as people get used on that you move to next one gradually changing your appearance, and it is complete truth.

Similarly my point was that people don't buy a £450 jumper just for other peoples benefit, and it shouldn't be worn just so others can see it. A £450 item of clothing is likely a luxury item so I agree it's unlikely to be worn for decorating, but why only wear it outside and not enjoy the luxury in your own home?

Mogli - yes peoples tastes and comfort zones evolve, but nobody is in a position to say why others buy nice (in their eyes) clothes or are visit this website. It can be for confidence, showing off, aligning themselves with a social group, self expression or simply because they've been brought up to look presentable. I've certainly never picked an item up and thought 'Will other people like this?' and I doubt I will. Just because people are on a fashion website certainly doesn't mean they are here to learn how to conform with well commercialised trends, as was highlighted in the introductions topic when the forum started where a number of people stated they're not too interested in fashion, but just want some style/buying advice.

Tom - I understand that. I am here primarily to evolve my style and i am interested in fashion. But far from that that i buy clothing for others. It was always for myself.
Sorry if something came out wrongly from my post, everyone is different.

I think it is good some people come here for advice, not many places online for that and i support that.
