All About The Readers...

I've always been into clothes, as long as I can remember. When I was younger, being an ardent Hip-Hop aficionado like Brown, and a skateboarder, it used to be all about baggy jeans, high top trainers and logo t shirts, although even then I used to mix in the occasional smart shirt or pair of Moccasin type shoes. That gradually evolved to a more fashion/streetwear inspired look; think limited edition Nikes with cardigans, skinny/slim denim and tech jackets, and lots of Diesel.

In the last couple of years I have discovered a smarter yet still individual and stylish way of dress, and developed an aversion to trainers and sportswear, although I will still don the odd pair of lurid trainers or a flat-peaked snapback cap. All Saints and Reiss now provide most of my staples. Unlike many on here, I do not have disdain for the Ramskull; but I think my fashion choices are influenced less by trying not to look like other people, and more by what I genuinely like myself. I will not be worried about wearing head-to-toe trends, but I feel like I always put my own spin on things and pull outfits off with aplomb. I am equally comfortable in spray-on skinny jeans as I am in normal slim denim- baggy is a strict no-no for me these days though! I am a bit of a style chameleon and will rock distinctly different looks from day to day- rock, heritage, preppy, urban, smart casual, classic style- and have fun doing it!

I found the site through an obsession with street style photo galleries and found it to be the best site to sniff around. Kudos, Fashionbeans!

I aspire to one day be photographed for a streetstyle blog, but I'm not sure if I fancy my chances- I drive everywhere!

I have always been style conscious since 15. I love wearing simple and conventional clothing and yet standing out. I don't really follow fashion, but i stick to my own principles such as choosing clothing based on fit, how it'd look like with other pieces, quality of the material.


I don't really believe in the idea of fashion, i believe that style is eternal and i love the classic look. I love outfits that are effortless but fit well and stand out.

Phew! I'm not the only one here!

Hello my name is Daniel. I like long walks on the beaches but only sometimes because the weather in Scotland is not always good. I also enjoy ice cream but I don't eat it much because I don't know where the ice cream van stops outside my house. I like vanilla with sprinkles. Sometimes with a flake because I can then use it as a macgyver-esque spoon which makes me feel like macgyver.

I got into fashion around my last year of school, so I could stand out from everyone else and get all da laaaaydies. It actually worked believe it or not.
I grew a lot the year I left school and with this new found look on life, came with a new look on style and fashion. I buy clothes not because it'll get me girls but because I enjoy expressing myself this way.
The way people view me doesn't really bother me anymore. I was walking around the town today and this junkie looking dude tried to whisper to his mate "dracula called and wants his jacket back" as I walked by him. I laughed because it was an actual coherent sentence. Only when I turned the corner I thought to myself "Pete Doherty called, he wants his needles back". I wanted to run back and tell him the great news but I couldn't be bothered, so I just sent him it telepathically. I hope he thought it was a good one.

I agree with the above. Fashion is a cyclical business idea to keep the masses trying to get that one up on everyone else.

Well believe it or not my name is Sam!
I simply started paying more and more attention to what I wear the instant my mum stopped buying me clothes for me. I can't afford to move beyond the high street so sometimes I'm an unwilling follower of fashion. Other times it's totally conscious and I'm not averse to a colourful trouser or striped top.
I'm not too egocentric so I won't write masses, but I value timeless style as much as fashion. I hope to someday have it...

I'm 20 and, until this last July, I never had any interest at all in clothes. In fact I had quite an aversion to fashion, for reasons I won't go into here.

But I was recently watching a lot of Smallville, and I was extremely impressed by the way clothing was used to project moods and character traits. This got me thinking and I started to look into the types of clothes there were. Before then it was polo shirts and shorts all summer, then polo shirts, jumpers and trousers all winter. I chose between one pair of vans, one pair of black shoes and one pair of flip flops for footwear.

Since then I've developed quite a fascination for braces, which I wear now pretty much every day in different colours etc, and I do like coordinating t shirts and cardigans for something simple. I live in the countryside, and am not a great person for nightlife (my idea of a great evening is a quiet night in always). I work for myself from home but do spend a lot of time in village committee meetings so need to dress fairly smartly for them.

I really like the countryside look so I'm investing a lot in clothing this winter to make the most of the trend. I shop a lot in Topman and M&S, and from Asos, but I also like checking out the stock in vintage shops. I've been building my wardrobe up a lot in the last three Months and have amassed quite a nice collection of different colored t shirts, cardigans, jumpers and jackets.

I don't mind dressing a little eccentrically from time to time, and I'm almost finished knitting a replica scarf to Tom Baker's in Doctor Who - it's been two years in the making! I'm looking for a nice long winter/duffle coat to wear with it to try and look stylish yet interesting!

Fashionbeans has been invaluable to me when it comes to building my clothes collection and working out what goes with what. I feel much more comfortable wearing clothes that I feel good in, and I've started to get compliments from strangers on the way I look for the first time in pretty much my whole life.

Even so I didn't think anybody would want to read a short story!

I have never really cared about fashion in terms of my own individual style. I was a sheep until now and wore the generic pair of jeans, adidas trainers and a nike hoody. After leaving school and entering college, I decided I needed to reinvent my wardrobe. I googled 'Mens Fashion' and came across this website in an attempt to transform myself.

Living in London has inspired me to change my wardrobe and venture into other areas of the broad spectrum of men's clothing. Recently have jumped on the trend of chunky cardigans, chinos and the plimsoll. I am looking to explore more and this website is teaching me something new everyday.

My only problem and constructive criticism is that most recommendation of clothing in articles are usually in excess of £100 or more. Now as a 17 year old still studying I find it extremely hard to catch up with current fashion and simply cannot afford to shop in the likes of All saints and Reiss all the time. I would hope that you could introduce and explicitly state the cheaper option for the likes of people dabbling in current men's fashion. Obviously I don't expect the likes of primark as I wouldn't be caught seen dead in that shop but we could have topman, riverisland and the likes as the cheaper option. I have recognised that this website does use topman sometimes but I feel not enough.

I'm 23 and have never really been very good at putting together outfits. I basically just bought things I liked individually and just threw anything together.

Over the last 18 months or so I've lost 3 1/2 stone and went from a 36" waist to a 31/32" so pretty much none of my old clothes fit me any more. I decided that if I'm going to have to buy a whole new wardrobe I might as well learn how to make the most out of the stuff I buy.
