The "What Should I Wear With This?" Thread

Hi Rusty,

Depends what sort of aesthetic you want to go for. I'd personally go for something very vintage, with a bit of a swing vibe, so inkeeping with the braces.
I'd probably wear the white shirt and braces, paired with black skinny jeans with a turn-up, white sports socks and black dress shoes. And of course the hair would be swept back and a bit more wet-look than usual. (Think Cliff Richard before he became the christmas number one churning out machine we know now).


If that sounds like a bit too much of a statement for the setting, I wouldn't blame you. I think the brogue boots would work fine (although get some polish on those badboys =P) although some purists might argue you should match your footwear with your braces; they are a belt-repalcement afterall. I think thats taking the piss though.

You might not get a lot of love for braces on here, but I like them, if worn right.

What shoes etc depends what kind of look you want to go for... Sophisticated, or a little bit rock and roll?

Why would the black boots look matchy? Those trousers seem grey. If they are black, go for black boots. If grey, the brogues would look good. Not a massive fan of trousers tucked in to boots myself. That might look a bit try-hard with the braces too. Though could suit a more rock and roll vibe, I guess.

I have to say those are some great ideas. I just don't like the colored denim pants. Go for a darker shade.

Just bought the green varsity jacket in the lookbook (2nd row,left pic) i really like the color and cut of it but ive got no idea on what to wear with it! Any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated!

How about a light pink oxford shirt (I LOVE pink and green together) and light brown chinos? I'd keep the footwear pretty casual: a clean pair of white leather trainers or some tan desert boots would do the job nicely.

For a slightly braver look, throw in a knitted navy tie for a bit of laid-back preppy styling. A look like that is a bit gimmicky and "streetwear"-ish for my tastes, but could work for some.

Hmm other than a light pink shirt is there any other colors that will work will too? i dont have a light pink shirt at the moment and what do you think about burgundy chinos with them? will it be too loud? im quite a fan of simple fashion haha

Burgundy chinos would work but might look a bit erm...christmasy? There's something about vivid green and red together that takes me back to the dreadful jumpers I would wear as a child at christmas.

If you want to keep it simple, a light blue oxford and brown chinos are your best bet. Indigo jeans are an option well. And never forget the good old fashioned white tee-shirt.

LOL i will keep that in mind.. no red and green then haha! but light blue oxford and brown chinos is good, i just need to get a brown chinos now btw will you be so kind as to show me what shade of brown are you talking about if its not so inconvenient for you. Thanks!
