A pocket square is never too much!
I dunno - between cropped trousers, cord collar denim shirt, brogues and a checked blazer there's quite a lot going on already.
I wear similar outfits with a pocket square all the time. Because the whole outfit works with very simple colours and tones, it will be fine. I'd go cotton and not silk to keep it in the more rugged end of things and in a blue check to tie in with the jacket (perhaps in a slightly darker shade with a slightly bolder check) And I'd go with a puff or rolled puff fold to keep it casual.
Funnily enough those were quite precisely my thoughts down to the puff :p only difference is I wouldn't do it myself.
Guess it boils down to whether or not you have a pocket square like that! Try it out, see how it looks.
And also, I'm just one of those folks who feels underdressed without one when wearing a suit or blazer, so I'm incredibly biased.
Can't believe you dont' own a denim shirt Sam! It's the most versatile thing ever
And I can't believe I don't own a navy blazer! I've alluded to the last one's unfortunate fate elsewhere...
As much as I need a navy blazer and denim shirt, the next thing I'm going to buy is a great pair of slim/skinny black jeans and black chelsea boots. It's going to set me back some... and money isn't really forthcoming since I just acquired a new guitar amp! But once I get that sorted I will pretty much wear the combo everywhere, with everything. Except more black.
