    Overweight - 6 week challenge

So the culmination of a broken rib, 3 stressful months at work and now a holiday in Portugal with too much beers, bread and chips, i find myself about a stone overweight and pretty flabby.

So starting Monday, 13th, Oct, I am going to try a self tailored body and health improvement, otherwise it has been a waste of money getting darts put into the back of all my shirts.

Fitness will come from jogging/running; I have a 10k in two weeks.

Strength and body will come from basic body weight exercise - push ups, pull ups, sit ups; and also some basic medicine ball manoeuvres.

Diet will be sticking to about 1800-2000 calories, cutting out the deep fried food, white bread, sweets and general crap.

    Booze will be limited.

So, being 38 I am not expecting miracles, but again I am not making so many sacrifice to mean I break the regime out of dispare.

I'll post a before pic on Monday, and update you on the progress.

Clothes look better on men who are in better shape, anyone else wanna join in?

Pic of you in your pants as a before shot?

I'm already too skinny, my gf won't thank you for making me lose more weight, soz

Fair play, though. We should take more care of ourselve the older we get.

thanks DG - here is another pants shot for your collection!

a bit of perspective on this - in late April before the broken rib i was 11st 12oz and was running 3x per week between 5-10km at a time. i ain't looking for the body of a model, just don't wanna wobble when brushing my teeth!..

no body else wanna join the challenge?

This is perhaps the most important mate, mind me asking what you will be eating ?

    sure..

Breakfast will be fruit and yoghurt, lunch will tend to be wholemeal porridge with water and salt. Tea will be protein (fish and lentils, not meat) with fresh veg, salad with brown rice, brown pasta, quinoa etc.

Supplemented with a no sugar, soy protein shake.

The lack of meat is just a temp thing as I have been eating so much, just want a rest from it.

    Any tips?

    Hi mate,
a small handful of ones you wouldn't normally hear:

    1. Don't force yourself to eat anything you don't actually like eating
    2. Don't fall into the trap of eating less and less as you go, if you don't see results. If anything, eat MORE.
    3. Don't put yourself under pressure to achieve specific results by specific dates. Take it week by week.
    4. ALWAYS listen to your instinct. It really does know best!

For food, what you've listed looks a little on the light side. you've not said how often you will train - daily, x? a week? this makes a difference aswell, as the more you train the more calories you are going to need, etc.

also, do you take or use many herbs in your cooking? or if not take herbal teas?
