This weekend it's mostly the new Blondes album. It's simply breathtakingly beautiful.

I have to admit, and I am a tremendous philistine, but that Blondes video really bores me. Is that what they call ambient music?
It has occurred to me that I don't listen to a particularly wide range of music. And almost nothing that doesn't involve a guitar. So my opinion on these matters doesn't carry much weight.
I think the term that's been used as a catch-all for Blondes type music (and think LCD Soundsystem and the like too) which is dance music made by the indie brigade is (and it's a loathsome term) 'hipster house'.
Whatever it might be, I don't see it as ambient as it has quite a groove to it. My first port of call when it coes to music is guitars too, but there's good music in all genres of music, so can't see why I'd want to limit myself to one type. It would be like only dressing in tan brogues... oh wait.
Hipster House does sound abhorrent. The lengths people will go for a juicy alliteration.
I can see what you mean, even though it's not my thing. Guitars are just a comfort blanket for me. Maybe the heady stuff is an acquired taste. Eh, I like Kid A. I'll branch out from there
Although I have to say, I caught the last half hour of Autobahn, the Kraftwerk album, on 6 Music the other day. It was pretty awesome, I think! I wish I'd caught the start, that sounds like it's an album heavy on motifs.
I'm seeing these two bands live this evening:
Standard Fare
One Happy Island
I really like those Jay, may have resparked an interest in guitar-based indie.
My music taste really does move in stages. There are some constants (The Smiths, Fleetwood Mac) but I'll often listen to a band constantly for a month and then never listen to them again.
I suppose genre-wise I'm usually floating around the boundaries of folk, pop and rock. I guess that most of what I listen to could be defined as "indie" or at least the sort of thing indies listen to, but that is definately not intentional. Its just what appeals to me.
My band is supporting Towns in Leicester on Friday. Going to be goooooood!
