I'm not very far into Catch 22 - but another on my to-read list is another Heller book, Something Happened, which was described by another one of those wise men I know as being his favourite novel, which is a considerable accolade.
But yes, it is definitely a funny book.
Just started reading a 30 year old copy of 1984. The pages are faded, they also smell funny but the book itself is really good.
1984 is an excellent read: one of Orwell's best. I think the ending as well is superbly done; it's horribly and understandably realistic.
I made a challange for my self and decided to read Neuromancer of William Gibson, its not an easy book for me to read due to many techno or computer slangs are used there. Take times, but so far interesting :)
catch 22 is brilliant...
another book i highly recommend is "the player of games" by ian banks, its absolutely superb.
read a few books recently, but nothing that great to be honest.

Just started Redbreast by Jo Nesbo. I'm big into the scandanavian crime novels now.

Just finished the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, and also nearing the end of Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky.
Then I'm planning on diving into the challenging monstrosity that is Ulysses by James Joyce.
Anyone read it, who can encourage me? Also, does anyone recomend I read the Odyssesy first? I don't want to miss out on my allusions =P
