    Which Double Monkstraps?

I am determined to make my next shoe purchase a double monkstrap. I currently have two contenders.

The Herring Shakespeare II in brown suede:

Herring Shoes, Boots, Premier Collection, Sale and Seconds, Herring Clearance > Herring Classic II

    OR

    The Loake Cannon in brown:

    Loake English shoes

They are the same price, 195, and I don't really want to go much over that. My main concern is that I would like to be able to wear them casually. I can imagine the Herring working well with a navy suit, but not so well with jeans because it has a pretty point toe. I can't make my mind up what the Canon will look like casually. Most of the pics I have seen of people wearing DMs casually have been of a lighter colour I think.

What do people think? I know at least one person on this forum has the Canon and appears to like them. Anyone got the Herring?

Being the one person that already owns the Loake canon's I can vouch for their quality and looks. They can be worn casually, I haven't really worn them with anything other than chinos as of yet but they will work perfectly well with jeans (I'm thinking indigo jeans, brown roll neck, grey db blazer and double monks. The colour is quite dark but it's also very rich and has an almost reddy tinge to it.

Go for the loakes; lush colour and more practical for the coming season than suede.

Haha. Well I am getting on a bit! Do I take it you own a pair? I like the first pair. What is the quality like compared to loakes? I can get free shoe trees and tie if i buy the Loake's from pediwear.
