Advice on brogues - traditional vs a bit different!

    Hi,

I'd be really grateful for advice on some brogues. I was going to go for the more traditional but was worried about the tan colouring (and whether it's as appealing as a darker brown) but then saw some Paul Smith ones that are a bit different. I'd also be grateful if anyone has any experience of Paul Smith shoes and how well made they are. My other Barker shoes are amazing and have lasted years.

Thanks, in advance, for the advice!

    The traditional:

Definitely the Barkers. There are nice modern twists on the brogue out there but those Paul Smiths ain't it.

Fourthded. If you're going to spend 150-200 on brogues you might as well go for a classic design that's going to last years, maybe decades.

There's nowt wrong with something a bit more 'out there' but I certainly wouldn't spend that sort of money on a pair which could be out of style in a season or two.

Fifthdedified. Disregarding the fact that I think the Barker shoes are better looking, you pay a lot more for the brand with Paul Smith. I'm not completely opposed to that, but I don't think the PS ones have any kind of edge to them, that would justify the extra money spent on brand.

Absolutely- go Grenson or Loake if you're spending that sort of money
