Men's Creeper Shoes - Stylish or Not?

I love them - most hate them. They seem to be becoming a lot more popular of late, with Topman and Asos selling a few different styles. At the moment though, there hasn't been much in the way of innovation with regards to the look of Creepers to try and get them into the mainstream a little more. I think they could be a success and could particularly become more and more prevalent over the winter when used with more monochrome themed outfits.

Do you think they can work or are they just simply way too ugly? (The pair immediately below are the ones that I own, I tend to wear them with black or grey jeans and they work with black chino's too)

I think their increased popularity is due to the trend of shoes and trainers with a thicker, platform-like sole starte by Prada's brogues

I have a pair, I've not stopped wearing them since I got them.

I got them from Asos in sale £72 from £120.

They're so comfy, much love for them but they've ruined all my invisible socks with the dye-rub.

I'm not a huge fan, are they clumpy to walk in?

You know, I was expecting them to be quite heavy and awkward to walk in, but they are genuinely very comfortable shoes. So comfortable that I wear them as much as possible as I can just slip them on and off too.

I was expecting around about a 20:80 split for and against tbh, as that is what the consensus seems to be across most other forums. I will definitely be wearing them over the coming months however, they're a great statement piece to add to an outfit to give it that crucial edge.

Yeah, they're a step too far for me. Definitely an interesting statement piece though like Stephen says, which is a good thing considering how quickly certain trends can spread to the high street and become overdone

I like the grey ones in the OP... Anyone got a link?

They would be a good alternative to the ubiquitous military boots this winter. I will still be rocking my military's though!

I agree with Pin Money; I don't mind the grey ones that were posted above. On the whole though, I really dislike them. I've started to see a lot of them around Sydney, but I struggle to see first of all what you would wear them with, and where they would be appropriate. I''ll stick to my loafers I think =P

Ashley acutally featured a pair in our latest FashionBeans MAN shoot - FashionBeans MAN: 2011 Outerwear Trends | Fashionbeans.com (last look).

Ash really knows his stuff, and if he featured them then you can be sure that he thinks they will become an item that rises in popularity over the coming months. For me, like many others here, they are just a bit too big and 'clunky'.
