Dark Brown Brogues With Black Skinny Jeans?

I've recently bought some black skinny jeans and would like some advice regarding shoes please.

I know I can wear black shoes with black jeans, and that brown shoes are something of a faux pas. However, I've seen the looks below which I like and it seems that brown shoes can work as long as they're very dark?






The ones I'm thinking of getting are these (I prefer the shoes to the boots):


Shoes:

Some old fashioned style rules should be broken. I actually like the first outfit you posted as the burgundy shirt actually compliments the brown brogues! I think it all depends on the shirt you choose to wear. As for the two shoes you posted above, I prefer the Hudson shoes too. They really have character!

As above, black jeans and dark brown shoes are fine in casual contexts.
