I am quite traditionalist when it comes to these matters, so I think a good pair of shoes will always be a better option than trainers with a suit. I have never seen a suit and trainers outfit that wouldn't look better with a pair of derbies or something similar instead. I'd advise against but maybe if it's ultra dressed down it could work.

If you're going to wear suit and trainers then they need to be something sleeker and less obviously sporty than New Balance.

Blue shoes and a brown suit might be a bit much but in principle i dont see why not in a casual enviroment.

Suit and trainers can work and I think the second picture Ares posted is a good example.

IMHO the suit HAS to be skinny fit though, otherwise you just look like you have turned up at work after spending lunch down at the gym. Skinny fit suits arent really appropriate for business so i think you avoid this.

As for brown and blue, I think it depends on the shades, a very dark brown with a bright blue trainer could work, as could a lighter brown with a more navy trainer. I think you would be better served with a grey suit though and let the blue trainer become a statement piece.

Also, keep the rest of the outfit simple to highlight the trainers.

Yes you can, even with a classic grey suit and an old chunky new balance. But I don't do it.
