MyWardrobe Style Guide – 5 Expert Fashion Trends

We touched on this is my fashion roundup last week, but today I wanted to do a full write up on it for all of you. A few weeks back MyWardrobe asked me to write some top tips for their men’s style guide which has just been released. They got together and collaborated with some of the largest men’s fashion/style publications to get their thoughts on the latest men’s fashion trends for the season. The 5 experts that were invited to contribute to this guide were: GQ Style, Dazed and Confused, Esquire, LOVE, and FashionBeans.

Each publication wrote some top tips about how to rock each of the latest major fashion trends for Autumn/Winter, and I think it has ended up being a really great pocket guide that I for one am very proud to have been a part of. It is nice to see this site recognised as a major influence on men’s fashion online, and that our opinion now counts at one of the largest premium designer retailers found on the Internet. This site has come a long way in just over a year, and we will continue to get better and better with each passing month as we strive for perfection (or as close as possible ).

Today though, let’s concentrate on breaking the style guide down, as well as throwing in some great picks from each major trend that was described.

Americana Workwear – By Esquire

The first trend is one that we have featured a lot on our site over the Autumn/Winter period – workerwear. This specifically deals with the whole Americana themed period which means rugged outwear, boots, over shirts and checks/plaid. One of my favourite trends of the season. Below the roundup by Esquire you can see some picks from the full range MyWardrobe are stocking this year.

Modern Classics – By FashionBeans.com

I was very lucky to get this “trend” as it is something I believe a lot in. Modern classics are those items that should be in your wardrobe EACH AND EVERY A/W season. They are classic items that transcend trends and seasons. Think about smart crisp shirts, beautiful cashmere or merino knits, statement jackets, dark denim and great dress shoes. These are items that will last years, never go out of fashion and still look great whatever the latest trends are. They all have modern cuts and detailing to bring them bang up to date, whilst still being the basis for any modern fashionable males wardrobe.

British Heritage – By LOVE

We have also mentioned this year that a lot of country inspired items are coming back on trend such as brogues and quilting. British heritage concentrates on true British premium designers who all give off that quintessential English gentleman vibe. Think about quilted jackets, brogues, flat caps, pocket scarves and great chunky knits. A great trend which can be mixed with other major fabric trends like velvet and tweed in order to give off that eccentric look.

Hunter Gatherer – By Dazed and Confused

Here is another trend which really ties in well with the whole workerwear and heritage trends. Hunter gatherer really goes back to the woods so to speak and is all about being a strong male with big presence. Think really masculine looks using thick materials giving you a big silhouette. Trapper hats are a must, as well as the whole checks/plaid clothing and big outdoor worker boots.

Investment Outerwear – By GQ Style

Investment Outerwear is not a trend but concentrates on finding those true quality jackets that are real statement pieces. They normally cost quite a lot of money, but it is called “investment outerwear” for a reason – these will be jackets/coats that you can wear each and every year in any season and know you will always look great. The amount of use you will get out of a great statement jacket is immense, so price per wear you will probably get more out of one of these than you would a trend t-shirt say. Dependant on your personal style you may want to choose a great mac by Burberry, a slim blazer by Paul Smith or great wool overcoat by Viveinne Westwood. Take a look below for some inspiration.
