American Apparel x KESH
American Apparel has launched a limited edition collaboration with the English artist KESH. Based in American Apparel’s hometown of L.A, KESH has made a name for herself and gained both popular and critical acclaim for her work. This collaboration showcases her unique art style alongside American Apparel’s talent for producing wardrobe staples designed for everyday wear.
The prints on display are immediately striking and prove why KESH has had such success. Complex pictures are built up out of simple block-like shapes in black and white, creating an aesthetic that is minimalist yet powerful. Imagery of eyes and faces permeate the prints, an interesting choice for a clothing collection that is, above all else, designed to be looked at.
The pieces themselves are drawn from the range of basics that American Apparel is known for, forming a small yet complete collection. Theoretically, the men’s selection creates a small wardrobe of its own – t-shirts, a tank top, a pair of shorts, underwear and a cap form the basic template for a casual summer look. However, the bold style of the prints dictates, and these pieces are best used as a statement – with their reliance on a black and white palette making them ideal for adding focal points to a simple, monochrome look.
The American Apparel x KESH collaboration blends art and fashion to provide a collection of casual basics, designed to make a statement in a unique and interesting way.
