Canterbury SS13 Black Label Collection
New Zealand label Canterbury have come up with a rugby inspired range of casual staples for their SS13 Black Label collection. Canterbury has been going strong for over a century and the latest collection references their strong heritage whilst bringing staples like chinos, tees, polos and jackets bang up to date. The ‘Uglies’ concept (stemming from sewing together scraps of material from the factory floor in order to create a unique jersey) makes for an interesting and playful aesthetic, resulting in a vibrant juxtaposition of emblems and logos that give the pieces a unique look and identity. The collection contains an eclectic mix of logos and colours, helping to create a relaxed summer vibe. Traditional rugby emblems are utilised throughout, and are seen prominently on signature pieces such as the ‘Redcliffs Tee’, ‘Pashley Polo’ and ‘Wallet Shirt’. Highlights from the selection of tees available include the ‘Headley’, which features a graphic print of the Kiwi bird – paying homage to the New Zealand heritage of the label – and is available in yellow or grey marl colour options. The ‘Brito Long Sleeve Rugby Shirt’ is great for those brisk spring days, coming in a fresh baby blue colour and featuring a drill collar and stitching detail to the shoulders. The ‘Summer Chinos’ would make a great alternative to jeans for the season. Slim cut for a flattering silhouette, they feature a fly front, structured waistband, belt with side seam and back welt pockets. However, the stand out piece of the whole collection is the ‘Henderson Parka’, which comes in bright yellow and will inject a shot of colour and life into any outfit you choose to integrate it into this season.
