Dope Los Angeles Boutique Launch
In 2007 a new streetwear label broke onto the men’s fashion scene in the West Coast of America. DOPE clothing, also known as Dope Couture, was started by Matte Fields, who at the time of founding the label was still a student at Indiana University – back then the passionate young designer could never have imagined the attention and success that his brand would receive a mere six years down the line. The Dope name first became widely known to the fashion world a year into business when rapper and record producer Lupe Fiasco began to endorse the label’s designs. Since then the likes of Jay-Z, P Diddy and Kendrick Lamar have all been spotted wearing Dope garments, thereby securing the brands place as one of the great, premium streetwear labels. However, whilst Dope’s collections attract a wealth of custom, aided by its online store, the Dope label also functions as a retail outlet stocking other brands. This element of the business is fronted by the boutique store, situated in Fairfax Avenue, Los Angles. The shop has functioned as Dope’s flagship store since 2011 and has now been fully refurbished with an ultra minimalist aesthetic, designed to offer visitors an exceptional shopping experience. The new studio-style makeover of the store evokes a clean and sterile guise. Finished in a brilliant white décor, the open space works as an empty canvas – ideal for displaying the latest on trend streetwear. The stock, which is sold at the Dope flagship centre, has been personally selected by owner Matte, who sees himself as a buyer as much as a designer. With brands such as BBC, Stussy, Ice Cream and Timberland all sold there, it’s clear Fields has a broad yet fashionable taste. In addition to the many brands offered at the boutique, the store also acts as an exclusive host to Dope Homme, the high-end sub-line of the label. Naturally, Fields is delighted with the new Dope boutique, saying “If you’re in LA and into streetwear fashion then you have to go to Fairfax, and if you’re on Fairfax you will be missing out if you don’t see the new Dope boutique.” The Dope boutique is situated at 454 North Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, California.
