Fourth & Main: Made in London
Fourth & Main’s AW13 collection is its biggest and most British yet: taking influence from classic British styles, it uses wools from Scotland and Yorkshire and cottons from Lancashire and is entirely manufactured in London. This new approach sees an increase in the overall quality and craftsmanship of the collection without sacrificing any of the styling that has made the brand such a huge success.
The selection of suiting picks up on some quirkier classics as well as established favourites. Moleskin suits add texture to the collection whilst also serving as a practical piece for the colder months. The soft material has a relaxed feel that would work well paired with a shirt and a piece of quality knitwear for a dressed down take on formal wear.
Wool suits are a proven staple of the autumn/winter season, and Fourth & Main provides both traditional grey and navy colour ways as well as a more adventurous piece in Black Watch tartan, putting a novel spin on the trending checked suit.
Coats and jackets are another major focus of the range, with macs and donkey jackets produced in textured wool and updated via a slim, modern fit. The chore coat has been a key piece in previous Fourth & Main collections, and this season the brand releases an updated version in wool, bringing it in line with both the season and the rest of the offering. A wax jacket is also available; epitomising the traditional British country aesthetic, it is a less formal option that helps cater to those with a more relaxed, casual personal style.
These highlight pieces are backed up by simple, quality shirts and knitwear. The outfits in the accompanying lookbook (below) showcase the versatility of the timeless white shirt, whilst quality jumpers in neutral tones provide a timeless base layer under either a suit or a jacket.
Overall, Fourth & Main’s autumn/winter 2013 collection takes the brand’s signature classic yet minimalist style and pairs it with a fitting ethos: matching British style with British manufacturing.
The collection will be available online via a variety of retailers around Britain and at fourthandmain.com.
