Fred Perry and Raf Simons have returned with another collection, following the success of their initial collaboration. The new autumn 2013 range takes cues from Fred Perry’s own signature aesthetic and blends with elements of classic American collegiate style as well as some interesting, original design touches. The most striking feature of the collection is the bold, autumn-appropriate outerwear. In a nod to Fred Perry’s heritage, a Harrington jacket is featured with a detachable ribbed collar that fits over the standard design – ensuring the piece looks more at home in the cold weather. The collegiate influence is immediately clear through the wide selection of varsity jackets on offer. Designed by Raf Simons, they channel the sporty cool of the classic silhouette whilst incorporating Fred Perry’s laurel wreath badge and signature tipping on the cuffs and collar. In addition, the duffle coat is updated in a slim fit and a striking electric blue colour scheme, which sets it apart from other designs. Shirting is central to the collection. Polo shirts are given a novel twist by utilising the same detachable collars as the Harrington, offering the wearer the option of either a classic self-fabric collar or contrasting alternative.
