Hemingway And Hush Puppies Collaboration SS13
The successful collaboration between Jack Hemingway, from Hemingway designs, and Hush Puppies has continued to flourish with the launch of a second collection for spring/summer 2013.
Relying on their original inspiration of influential moments in British Club Culture, combined with Hush Puppies heritage, the exciting collaboration has produced yet another range of outstanding footwear.
Focusing in particular on the revival of ‘Mod’ culture, the accompanying campaign is shot at the seaside town, Margate. The amusement park ‘Dreamland’ naturally becomes the theme of the shoot, being an iconic attraction for the coastal town. Carelessly running through the streets, stopping for ice cream and hanging out at the beach, the models embody the carefree youth of the sixties – of course wearing their quirky, pastel coloured shoes.
This season’s collection is a natural progression from the previous autumn/winter designs, with the addition of a few new details bringing a fresh and exciting feel. The ‘Teddy Boy’ classic ‘Brothel Creeper’ has been reworked with a textured woven upper, which sits upon a crepe inspired sole; the Chelsea boot has undergone a revamp in a brown and red colour combination with brogue detailing; and ‘Vincent’ is the newest member of the gang, taking the classic loafer and giving it a contemporary twist via contrasting colours that resemble Hush Puppies’ heritage.
Overall, the fusion of classic shapes with modern detailing, fabric enhancements and colour combinations results in a winning formula. Let’s hope this is a collaboration that continues to develop in future seasons.
