Hideo Wakamatsu Luggage Launches In UK

Already a huge name in his native Japan, Hideo Wakamatsu has finally released his line of functional and stylish luggage on British shores.

Having lived in Paris for over ten years, Wakamatsu combines French flair with Japanese craftsmanship and a minimal aesthetic. His collections have functionality embedded in their very core, with the designer creating luggage that is unfussy, sleek, easy to manoeuvre and stylish – perfect for the man on the go.

Wakamatsu says, “My designs are an expression of my take on the world. I approach my luggage design as if I were creating a piece of art – with obsessional passion, heart, soul and attention-to-detail. Luggage can be art and an expression of our individuality. I want to blur the lines between function, aesthetics and expression because luggage matters.”

The new collection features several pieces to meet different travel needs, from short weekend gateways to longer adventures.

If you are after a short trip companion then the Max Cabin case is for you. Priced at ÂŁ195, the suitcase offers travellers the opportunity to take full advantage of any airlines’ cabin allowance, with a spacious capacity of forty litres. This means no more waiting around at the baggage carousel, giving you more time to enjoy your break.

The Max cabin is a square design and comes in three colour ways: two-tone grey/black, two-tone grey/green and all black. It features a TSA combination lock, a robust telescopic handle and silent 360 degrees wheels.

However, the highlight of the Hideo Wakamatsu collection has to be the Muscular case. It comes in three size options, costing between ÂŁ195-275, and features a high gloss shell made from patented Panlite® – a material that is robust and hard wearing but with a glossy and flexible body.

Added touches include four silent running wheels that swivel 360 degrees, an aluminium telescopic handle and two TSA locks. Colour ways include: all black, blue, red, white and, our personal favourite, black with a red trim.

Luggage is an area that many style-conscious gents neglect; often spending big money on designer clothing but then carrying it in cheaply made suitcases. With this in mind, now is the time to upgrade and invest in a case that is high on function AND style… and the Hideo Wakamatsu range offers just that.
