This autumn/winter season, Mulberry directs its attention towards what is one of the most oft-ignored areas of men’s accessories: luggage. Mulberry’s new collection, dubbed ‘Matthew’, forms part of the luxury brand’s overall AW13 offerings and consists of four brand new bag styles: a holdall, a document case, a tote and a 24-hour bag. Each piece is specially selected and optimised to keep their owners prepared for all transportation eventualities, particularly if used in tandem with one another. Although all four are conceived with different individual purposes in mind and boast unique features and design points, they each share a few components in common: all of the pieces feature removable travel-card-sized luggage tags, hidden pockets for storing technological accessories (i.e. chargers, etc.) and multi-purpose compartments concealed within their interiors. The Matthew holdall is a simple yet versatile overnight bag, perfect for an impromptu weekend away or business trip, whilst the 24-hour bag has additional space for documents, technology, wash bag and shoes for the weekends that allow for a little more preparation.
