Nicholas Deakins
Is it just us, or is anyone else still living in the memory of the 1990s? The decade doesn’t feel like an all too distant memory just yet, and so when we discovered that Nicholas Deakins was established in 1991, our immediate thoughts were of a company in its infancy. However, the reality is a far cry from that: born from the creative mind of fashion & textiles student Craig Nicholas Tate, the men’s footwear and clothing brand has been successfully running for twenty-two years. Well, ‘successfully’ is perhaps a slight understatement. With the initial 1991 collection comprising only four styles, the brand has since then built an unrivalled reputation for its quality in both design and manufacturing. Over the past two decades the brand has pushed itself to continuously evolve whilst remaining true to those original four designs on which it built its reputation. With the brain behind the brand studying at university in London, Nicholas Deakins also continuously nods at its heritage, incorporating a number of uniquely British elements into its designs – the autumn/winter 2013 collection takes its inspiration from the English countryside and football terraces to produce a range of tees, polo shirts and, of course, footwear. In a further ode to its British roots, the latest collection marks the brand partnering with one of the country’s most renowned manufacturers, Harris Tweed (for the second time, no less). The Nicholas Deakins autumn/winter 2013 collection is now available in stores and from nicholasdeakins.com.
