Odin New York x Rag & Bone Collaboration

American fashion retailer Odin New York is currently involved in a series of high-profile collaborations with a number of top designers. The first of these projects sees them team up with Rag & Bone to produce a seven-piece capsule collection that combines British heritage styles with modern design. Although small, the range covers all bases: a coat, blazer, a couple of shirts, a selection of chinos and a sweater make for a versatile selection of garments that can be combined in any number of ways. The ‘Walton’ coat is a classic black overcoat with a fashionable twist. Its slim cut and asymmetric buttons lend it a look recognisable to anyone familiar with Rag & Bone’s current collection and signature aesthetic. The blazer is casually cut with a four button placket and soft structuring, which contrasts effectively with its navy pinstripe fabric that is traditionally associated with smarter ‘power’ suits. A contrasting patch pocket lends it a casual twist that goes hand-in-hand with the distinct lack of lapels – these two features combining to help turn an otherwise smart, conservative piece into an interesting smart-casual jacket that remains extremely versatile and wearable. A pair of skinny chinos in the same pinstripe fabric as the jacket allows the two to be worn together as a casual suit, or separately to add a patterned element to another ensemble. In addition, a straight-fit chino is available in garment dyed navy and grey, which evokes a casual, workwear-inspired aesthetic. The shirts are available in chambray and an on trend red check. Both strike a nice balance between smart and casual whilst maintaining a heavy texture that fits in nicely with the other fabrics utilised in the collection. Finally, a simple pullover in pale blue with contrasting cuffs and hem makes for a great layering piece and helps anchor the more elaborate items within the range.
