ohw? x Kith Footwear
Wet behind the ears but already making waves, new shoe brand ohw? (pronounced “Who”) teams up with New York sneaker retailers Kith to create a new capsule collection for the autumn season.
Created by friends, designers and self-described “footwear fanatics”, Stephen Gill and Hiro Chen, ohw? first displayed their work during SS12 with a collection that earned them both acclaim from the public and the attention of fellow sneakerhead Ronnie Fieg.
Seeking to set a new standard in terms of footwear brands going back to basics and having a more intimate involvement with the design and production stages of their products, ohw?’s ethics align themselves perfectly with Kith’s own mission statement of fostering a more tight knit community of creators and distributors.
The exclusive collection consists of two styles, which are constructed from super soft full grain leather and silk suede: Hiro, a single-eyelet stitch down shoe and Roc, a two-eyelet stitch down chukka boot.
Each comes available in Cool Blue, Coral Red, Forest Green, Chalk White and classic Charcoal colour ways.
The shoes are hand-stitched in ohw?’s now-signature pared down style, and feature all leather laces, linings and socks. In addition to these high quality yet fairly standard features, several subtle, personal touches are present; including size markers along the cut edges of the uppers and each shoe being hand-signed by the person in the factory doing the final quality assurance check.
Designed for optimum fit, a combination rubber and phylon sole is utilised – a design more typically found in the midsole of sports shoes, ensuring exceptional comfort and ease of wear.
The collection will be available from Kith’s physical Manhattan store from September 23rd as well as online at kithnyc.com.
