Onitsuka Tiger LAWNSHIP Shoe
Japanese label Onitsuka Tiger’s ‘LAWNSHIP’ model takes inspiration from 1970s tennis cool and creates a classic yet up to date trainer.
The trainer plays homage and celebrates 1970s tennis greats like Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in a design that is minimal but stylish – a great addition to your spring/summer wardrobe. The ‘LAWNSHIP’ design was first introduced in 1973 and is a ‘grand slam’ of retro aesthetics fused with modern comfort and a dash of performance technology.
The outsole is made of anti-slip rubber and features the original round-toe design for greater lateral toe movement, resilience and comfort – on or off the court. Its Derby cut eyestays, ventilation holes and embossed golden Onitsuka Tiger logo (rather than the brand’s traditional stripes) ensures a minimal design and an overall vintage feel.
Lisa Hogg, head of brand management at Onitsuka Tiger, said: “LAWNSHIP is a classic court shoe crafted to a high-spec contemporary standard. Its inspiring 1970s look and feel is as dazzling as a Björn Borg backhand.”
The ‘LAWNSHIP’ is available in three premium leather colour options: two white versions with red or green accents and an all black design. The white versions are clean and classic and have a true 1970s feel but if you’re looking for a more modern take then opt for the black version, which features a suede back heel. The black design also perfectly straddles the line between smart and casual, ensuring a versatile shoe that will take you from day to night effortlessly.
