OtherUK (or just Other) is an independent streetwear and lifestyle brand that cumulates different trends and original design to create quality clothing. Worn by many famous names in the music industry such as P Money, JLS and Leigh-anne from Little Mix, the British label have now firmly cemented themselves as a top tier streetwear label. However, as with any successful brand, Other are now looking to develop their style and progress within the fashion industry. They are looking to do this through the expansion of their product range, with their latest AW13 lookbook showcasing everything from tees, sweatshirts and vests to jackets, beanies and snapback hats – thereby virtually making up a full capsule wardrobe. Whilst the palette follows a dark monochrome theme – an ongoing trend in premium streetwear – the cut of the garments is much more unusual, almost mimicking an aesthetic from high-end fashion houses. Oversized t-shirts with hanging zips and dropped hems are a prominent feature, perhaps demonstrating OtherUK’s wish to bring elements of creative design and art to their silhouettes. Another key influence running through the collection is American sportswear, which is emphasised by the printed basketball jersey and contrast sleeve baseball tee. These two iconic sports-inspired pieces have seen an escalation in popularity over the past few seasons, and with the sports luxe trend still thriving one can only expect such classic jerseys to become staple high street garments in the near future. In keeping with another of this season’s key trends, OtherUK have also included a small number of ethnic- and animal-inspired prints within their collection. A paisley enthused hanging material provides a great contrast to the white tee it is applied to, whilst the reptile pattern blends seamlessly into its plain black canvas, creating a dark, mysterious t-shirt design.
