Police Eyewear – 30th Year Anniversary

This year high end eyewear brand Police celebrate their thirty year anniversary. Founded in 1983, Police have constantly introduced new design elements and technological advancements within its sought after eyewear, from the blue mirrored lens through to the ‘gothic P’ logo now seen on the majority of Police products.

It may not yet be the weather for sunglasses, but you cannot help sit up and take notice when an anniversary comes round – and brings with it the exciting prospect of limited edition products. To mark the thirty year milestone, Police are launching a special edition eyewear range and commemorative book that looks back over the past thirty years of the brand.

The celebratory sunglasses, available in both silver and gold, adopt the signature Police ‘Aviator’ style model – although with a unique and sophisticated twist. Utilising the iconic 1980s classic pilot profile, the frame is gold plated, features leather detailing and is finished with the iconic winged Police logo.

The commemorative book, entitled ‘Look Beyond’, features the work of Giovanni Gastel, one the great names in Italian photography. Through a collection of portraits with personalities within the world of show business, music, sport and art Mr Gastel depicts what it means to look beyond, in order to overcome the boundaries and filters that often prevent us from truly understanding our surroundings and inner-selves.

With famous faces such as actors Luke Evans and Stefano Accorsi, Italian actress Luisa Ranieri, Italian chef Carlo Cracco, Italian tennis star Flavia Pennetta and Italian actor Francesco Scianna to name but a few, ‘Look Beyond’ is the ability to look with new eyes and to feel part of something bigger – outside of all boundaries and filters.

In addition to celebrating thirty years of style, the project is also supporting the ‘Doctors Without Borders’ charity, with part of the proceeds set to be donated to provide a complete cycle of treatment based on ready to use therapeutic foods for at least six hundred malnourished children.

Both sunglasses and the ‘Look Beyond’ book will available at Harvey Nichols from April 2013.
