Rag & Bone At London Collections: MEN
U.S. label Rag & Bone has become the latest high-profile label to join the London Collections: MEN showcase, with the New York based brand due to show its SS14 collection at the forthcoming event in June.
Founded in 2002 by British-born design duo Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, the brand is celebrated for its polished, offbeat sensibility. Designing practical and stylish tailoring and separates with an understated edge that is synonymous with stateside dressing, the label infuses the founder’s British origins and passion for the arts. Focused on using the finest materials and craft skills, the brand aims to ‘continuously redefine urban style’.
The label has joined the growing number of esteemed international design houses to showcase their collections in the British capital; indeed, the London shows and exhibits have become more than a just a platform for nurturing home grown talent.
Once considered the afterthought of fashion focus and overshadowed by its continental counterparts, London has consistently been a dynamic hotbed of creative menswear inspiration with its own unique rebellious undercurrent; the city is now beginning to receive the recognition it deserves as a major player in the international fashion scene.
The three day LC:M showcase last season saw its heftiest schedule to date, with respected names such as Alexander McQueen, J.W. Anderson and Christopher Kane all part of the line-up, as well as a key assortment of ground-breaking, one-to-watch brands.
This June’s SS14 event sees iconic British label Burberry return to show on its home turf – no doubt this move will lure further distinguished names to exhibit in the ‘Big Smoke’, and with the current schedule the best yet, we can expect this summer’s showcase to raise the sartorial bar for London even further.
