88 Rue Du Rhone Release Official BAFTA Timepiece

The British Academy Film Awards is receiving its own honour from watchmaker 88 Rue Du Rhone. The Swiss brand has teamed up with WatchShop.com to release a special edition timepiece, marking the 67th annual event. As the Official Watch & Timing Partner, 88 Rue Du Rhone was tasked with creating the piece, which will be gifted to all winners, citation readers and attendees. The gent’s watch has a black case and dial, date display and chronograph functions framed by silver sub dials. The back has been engraved with the EE-sponsored BAFTA logo and is complimented by a black padded calf-leather alligator grain strap. Sunday’s ceremony, hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, is expected to pull in more than six million viewers if last year’s numbers are anything to go by. Craig Leach, UK brand director of 88 Rue Du Rhone, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the Watchshop to launch the BAFTA limited editions at retail. This will be the first time that we have retailed a limited edition collection for 88 Rue Du Rhone and we are looking forward to seeing the results.” Buyer and online merchandiser at the specialist watch store, Terry Markham, added: “This Limited Edition pair of watches are a fantastic opportunity to further reinforce 88 Rue Du Rhone’s commitment to the arts, as well as helping charitable causes at the same time.” Those outside the silver screen still have a chance to get their hands on one of the watches. Priced at £495, 88 Rue Du Rhone’s offering will be sold with two complimentary tickets to a private viewing of Andy Gotts’ ‘Behind The Mask’ photo exhibition. Gotts will meet owners of the watches at his exhibition of over 100 photos of Hollywood A-listers. 88 Rue Du Rhone was founded by brothers Elie and Pierre Bernheim, grandsons of watchmaker, Raymond Weil. The BAFTA awards will take place on Sunday, February 16th 2014 at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London and broadcast live on BBC One from 9pm.
