German sportswear giant adidas has revealed it will roll out a new version of its Superstar 80s style next year, through a partnership with Korean fashion designer Juun J.
Debuted during Juun J’s spring 2015 show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week, the trainers will come in two designs, both available in either black or white.
The styles, one hi-top and the other a low, feature three Velcro straps that represent Juun J’s tweak on the original, and a monochrome shell toe body.
The collaboration isn’t the first announced for adidas who has standing deals with Pharrell, Yohji Yamamoto, Raf Simons, Rita Ora and Mary Katrantzou.
The news comes as the brand is attempts to repopularise its Stan Smith style and several other throwbacks.
The Superstar 80s became famous when American rapper Run DMC referred to them in his My Adidas track.
Seoul-based Juun J is fresh off a deal with American artist Josh Luke. The pair’s The Global Popup Stores Project featured t-shirts, bomber jackets and sweatshirts.
The adidas Original Superstar 80s by Juun J will be available from February 2015.
Prices will range from £240 to £280 when bought from select boutiques worldwide and online at adidas.com.
