Bowers & Wilkins Collaboration With Maserati
British sound specialists Bowers & Wilkins has teamed up with legendary car manufacturer Maserati for a modified custom edition of their P5 On-Ear Headphones. The style, which was first launched in 2010, isn’t the only product to have gotten a makeover. The brand’s 800 Series Diamond Speaker has also undergone the Maserati treatment. The reworked models represent a joining of two brands leading in their fields. The collaboration stems from a shared celebration of luxury, elegance and performance. Rather than completely redesigning the headphone model, the new Maserati edition focuses on a visual overhaul. The updated P5 uses the same closed-back speaker drivers, built from neodymium magnets and mylar diaphragms. However, they now come clad in an exclusive Maserati racing blue instead of the standard black leather finish. Also carried over is the made for iPhone-approved cable with inline remote, microphone and gold-plated 3.55mm audio jack. New to the model’s design is the pair of metal Maserati tridents on the headband. The trident – designed by Mario Maserati in 1926 based on a statue of Neptune – also features on the exclusive leather travel pouch. Along with the design features, heightened by Maserati’s contributions, the P5 has been designed to deliver the same unbeatable and award-winning audio performance. The 805 Maserati Edition is the pairing’s loudspeaker offering. The new model features Bowers & Wilkins’ Diamond Dome Tweeter system to produce a listening experience synonymous with the luxury culture of both brands. Bird’s eye maple real wood veneer and black Maserati leather makes up the majority of the tech. The stand is finished with the same polished wood and is the home of the Maserati trident.
