Canali X Barber Osgerby 200 Steps Film

Canali has teamed up with British designers Barber Osgerby for the latest instalment of its 200 Steps film series. The luxury Italian label started the project as part of its website re-launch back in February. Every month, the brand releases a short film featuring famous men revealing the secrets of their creativity and the steps behind their craft. This month it’s the turn of Barber Osgerby, the design studio launched in 1996 by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. The multidisciplinary designers’ portfolio features furniture, lighting and product work. Previous commissions include design brands like Knoll, Vitra, B&B Italia, Cappellini, Venini and Flos. The pair were also called in for the 2012 Olympic Torch and new £2 coin for the Royal Mint. Both Barber and Jay’s work is held in permanent museum collections around the world including the Victoria and Albert and Design Museum, London; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and Art Institute, Chicago. Running at just over two minutes, the film shows Barber Osgerby discussing inspiration and how an initial idea is carried through to the finished product. The two also showcase Canali by wearing pieces from its current SS14 collection. Actor Toby Stephens and photographer Giovanni Gastel have previously appeared in the series. May’s featured face is yet to be announced. For more information and to see all the 200 Steps films, go to Canali.com.
