E-tail giant Mr Porter has added Club Monaco to its roster of designers, just one month after the premium lifestyle brand opened its first UK menswear store. The male arm of the Net-A-Porter empire has taken stock of the US label’s AW14 collection which focuses on capsule wardrobe pieces inspired by musicians coming out of Manchester in the late 1970s. During a FashionBeans exclusive Q&A, the brand’s vice president of men’s design, Aaron Levine, said he hopes to offer “affordable luxury” through the site. “I am interested in creating staples that men can have in their closest for a long time,” he added. T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, a hoodie and jacket feature alongside Levine’s key “Made in America navy blazer”. The launch via the online name, which also stocks the likes of Paul Smith, Ami and Wooyoungmi, comes after the opening of a 1,200sq ft menswear outlet on London’s Redchurch Street in August, as well as Club Monaco’s first home store in Southampton. When asked about the decision to add Mr Porter to the business’s current retail strategy, Levine said: “Mr Porter is a brand that mirrors Club Monaco by offering men more than just clothes, they offer a lifestyle, just like us.” The AW14 collection will be available to buy from tomorrow (Tuesday 9th September). Prices range from £40 for t-shirts up to £650 for jackets. Other pieces including shirts, sweatshirts and blazers range between £90 – £400.
