Diesel Launches Second Tribute Line
Diesel’s newly appointed Artistic Director has continued his tribute to the company’s 35-year archive by revealing a limited edition leather line.
Nicola Formichetti kicked off the two-tier release of the capsule collection back in November. The initial drop saw designs formed from some of Diesel’s classic denim pieces. This month’s delivery honors leather in admiration of the brand’s infamous rebellion style.
The hand-crafted line is made up of twenty set pieces, eleven of which are for men, and centers on uniquely designed patchwork and “heavy metal hardware”.
The former Lady Gaga costume designer stated that he aimed to design a range that would honor the “DNA of Diesel” and “bring the heritage into the digital world”.
The 36-year-old added: “I wanted to show the strength of so many iconic pieces that Diesel have offered throughout its 35-year history”
“I wanted to do something handmade and almost like an homage to Diesels history.”
The line reworks original pieces designed and created by founder Renzo Rosso. Diesel confirmed that only three pieces were produced per day due to the highly detailed hand-stitching of studs and patches to each item.
As the brand’s first-ever Artistic Director, Formichetti explained that he has a vision for the future, beginning with the shoot for the line for which was carried out by photographer Nick Knight using only an iPhone.
The #DieselTribute leather line became available exclusively to the UK market via Selfridges last week, with worldwide availability following on 1st February.
