Scandinavian Label Reinterprets Mickey Mouse Print

Scandinavian fashion and lifestyle brand Wood Wood has made Mickey Mouse the face of its latest collaboration, teaming up with Disney to produce a joint collection.

The cartoon character features across several signature pieces, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets and accessories for men.

Opting for a “house of mirrors” approach, illustrations of the famous mouse have been “stretched, multiplied and distorted”.

A palette of black, white and navy blue makes up the collection, which is complemented by with repetitive prints in original red, white and black colour ways, as well as inverted monochrome shades.

Speaking to FashionBeans about the collaboration, Wood Wood co-founder Brian SS Jensen said: “We were given access to Disney’s character archive which is very large, and it was tempting to pull images directly from there.”

“However we decided to focus entirely on Mickey Mouse and worked hard to ensure that every image reflected the concept for this particular project. We wanted to do something original with something very familiar and recognisable.”

When asked if the partnership could form the basis for an ongoing collaboration, he added: “The deal was just for one project, but let’s see what happens.”

The Disney x Wood Wood capsule collection will launch in London department store Liberty, Good Hood and Wood Wood outlets on 3rd November, with pre-orders being taken through Wood Wood from 27th October.

Prices start from £42 for t-shirts and accessories, £125 for sweatshirts, £135 for shirts, £160 for knitwear and £260 for jackets.
