Garden Inspired Collection For AW14
Fans of Gant Rugger will recognise the setting of the brand’s latest lookbook release. The American firm has carried over the gardening-inspired backdrop, first seen during the AW14 runway show at New York Fashion Week. The collection takes elements of the great outdoors and transfers them on to contemporary pieces. Horticulture-inspired images recently released showcase leaf printed outwear as well as a green fingers motif jumper. Drawing inspiration from a book by Japanese garden stylist Satoshi Kawamoto, key items in the line include an all-over leaf print hoodie and the Flower Slacker casual trousers. The brand says it aimed to “make the collection as comfortable and wearable as possible,” by mixing striking floral patterns with simple pieces in warm autumnal colours. The gardening theme was fully applied when the collection was shown at New York Fashion Week earlier in 2014. Models at the March event walked down a runway within a greenhouse, wearing leather gardening gloves. Gant Rugger makes up the sportswear arm of the wider Gant brand, which was founded in 1949 in New Haven, US. The company has since been acquired by a Swedish firm, but still maintains its Ivy League heritage through classic casualwear.
