Hanro Spring/Summer 2014
Luxury loungewear label Hanro is enjoying a double celebration: the brand’s 130th anniversary this year along with the release of its latest spring/summer 2014 collection. The Swiss firm – which has become the go-to name for high quality basics for everyone from Tom Cruise to George Clooney to the Pope – opened its first UK store in London last year. SS14 for the brand has been split into two main lines: Urban Casuals and Modern Classics. Hanro designers have attempted to create pieces that are versatile enough to be mixed and matched to wear as nightwear, daywear or loungewear.
The Modern Classics line nods to a preppy aesthetic with classic tones of grey, black and navy teamed with khaki and check patterns. Nautical references are found within the Miguel range, where a long sleeve V-neck top carries a navy stripe pattern. A similarly striped long sleeve and pants set, made from single jersey mercerized and interlock cotton, is priced at £129. Wardrobe staples, 100 per cent cotton t-shirts and polo shirts in block-colours are priced from £43.50.
The Urban Casuals line takes its inspiration from the East with prints, patterns and tonal hues. Nuno lounge shorts, which feature an all-over ornamental flower microprint, are made from 100 per cent cotton and priced at £64.50 Tiago, another of the brand’s sub-ranges, offers a large selection of classic woven cotton pieces across pyjamas, pants, and robes. Available in grey, black and subtle stripes, prices for the Tiago range start from £46.
In addition to the two main lines, Hanro is also offering its basics collection, which is comprised of the brand’s classic, unfussy underwear. This season, old styles have been updated with new colours and prints. The full collection is available online at Hanro.co.uk, from the London store, or from one of its 120 UK stockists including Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and John Lewis.
