Hood By Air has followed up its New York Fashion Week preview with a video lookbook displaying the full autumn/winter 2014 line. The streetwear collection, designed by Shayne Oliver, appears in various bondage-inspired combinations, but does not completely avoid the latest trends. Models can be seen sporting lightweight bomber jackets in the video, stemming from an athletic aesthetic that carries over from last season. The colour palette remains simple. AW14 focuses on black and white, shifting to maroon hues later, before finishing with camouflage and hints of tan. Hood by Air’s profile has increased dramatically in a short space of time. This year the New York-based brand has been nominated for the Swarovski-sponsored prize for emerging talent at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. Oliver’s work at the label is also in the finals for LVMH’s 2014 Prize for Young Designers. The Hood by Air man is joined by the likes of London-based names Craig Green and Christopher Shannon. A panel of industry experts, including Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs and Riccardo Tisci, will select an overall winner later in the year. Hood by Air’s AW14 styles won’t be in stores for a few months, but the SS14 collection already is, available via its newly launched web shop.
