AW14 Line Looks To Sailing Heritage
Lacoste is following up its World Cup collection with another sport-inspired line for autumn/winter 2014. The French brand’s Regate collection is a reference to its own sailing heritage, with sporty items in shades of white, navy blue and burgundy, and printed graphics “adapted from the fast-paced world of yachting”. Each piece in the range has been finished with Lacoste’s signature crocodile logo. The launch follows the equally nautical Alphabet Marin line from spring/summer 2014, which featured polo shirts and trousers embroidered with maritime signalling flags. Fans of the brand were also able to create their own maritime alphabet messages using Lacoste’s online ‘CodeYourLife’ tool, created especially as part of the collection’s promotional campaign. Since the brand was founded in France 1933, its ties with both the sport and fashion worlds have helped it become one the European country’s biggest exports. With its largest store on London’s Brompton Road, Lacoste now has over 1,208 outlets worldwide. According to the brand in 2011, two pieces of Lacoste clothing are sold every second. The Regate collection will be available from August at Lacoste stores and online. Prices start at £45 for T-shirts, £100 for polo shirts and £160 for hooded sweatshirts.
