Luxury shoe manufacturer Mr Hare plans to offer men a safe haven with its latest store. The brand has confirmed a deal on a space in Notting Hill Gate, where it will neighbour womenswear stores such as Ottolenghi and Matches. The 245 sq ft double-fronted outlet aims to attract abandoned husbands into its “chic sartorial clubhouse”. Inside the Ledbury Road location, men will be able to shop Mr Hare’s range of shoes, sandals, trainers and luxury accessories as well as enjoy coffee, rum, newspapers and comfy chairs. The East London store is the British firm’s second, having put pen to paper on a spot in Mayfair in 2012. At the time of announcement, founder Marc Hare said: “With my new Notting Hill Store I am on a mission to remind the new international locals, just what a cool place Notting Hill was before that film burred its edge.” “When East London was just empty office buildings, Notting Hill was it, as far as London’s creative and youth culture was concerned,” he added. The interior is expected to be informal, with references to subcultures that populated the area in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Mr Hare’s Notting Hill Gate shop will open on 10th July 2014.
